Membership

The SPWG is a membership driven organization made up of individuals who believe in building a more equitable and supportive San Francisco for children, youth, and their families. All of our members work in the youth development field in San Francisco, many of which also have children of their own. Our members serve in a variety of different positions in the field including direct service providers, Executive Directors, Program Managers, and more. We leverage our members’ expertise and lived experiences to inform our day to day priorities, strategies, and efforts. As a membership driven organization, we expect members to be vocal and outspoken about what they are experiencing in order to leverage the SPWG to raise awareness and/or problem-solve. There are four different categories of membership as defined below.

Our next meeting is scheduled for August 28th at 10 AM. Click the button below to add it to your calendar

Levels

Level 1: Advisor

The role of the Advisory Board is to support SPWG in achieving its mission and to serve as a resource and partner to the Executive Director in managing day to day operations. Advisory Board member responsibilities include but are not limited to supporting the development of infrastructure and systems, representing the voices and experiences of our broader membership in decision-making processes, serving as an advocate, ambassador, spokesperson, and connector for SPWG in the community, financial oversight, and more.

Level 2: Leader

The leadership category is for members who are engaged in one or more of our Subcommittees which are developed for special projects on an as needed basis. For example, one of SPWG’s priorities is advancing Wage Equity for youth-serving nonprofit workers. We are currently developing a Subcommittee for folks interested in this work. Any of our members are eligible to participate in a subcommittee and may request to be added, we do ask that you have a special interest or expertise in the topic. Meeting frequency and duration are decided upon by members of the corresponding subcommittee.

Level 3: Active

As an active member, we ask that you commit to regularly attending and actively participating in our monthly membership meetings which are hosted virtually on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 10am-11am. We highly encourage consistent participation as it makes for a higher quality member experience. To be considered an "Active" member you must attend at least 75% of meetings between July 2024 and June 2025.

Level 4: Drop In

As a drop-in member there is no commitment or attendance expectations. You simply sign up and get access to all of our email correspondence. The SPWG sends out regular communication to our members via email including meeting reminders, newsletters, upcoming events, legislation, and more. Our goal is to keep our members up to date on pertinent topics as well as provide professional development and training opportunities. With that information you are welcome to engage with us as you please and at your own pace.
